Our team and dreamhack winter 2013VIKINGdom | 30.11.2013 08:53
Our team had only short period of time to get used to play with each other up to the event. Its a fairly new team and needed all the practice they could get. This meant hard work and they did exactly that, worked hard.
We started the BYOC with the Swedish Hex-esport which we won 16-2. This was an expected win from our side. We moved on to match 2 out of 3 in the qualifier, against VOX EMINOR from down under (Australia), and send them packing with 16-11. This win was bittersweet since they had come all that way, but it was them or us! Last match was against none other than mighty mousesports. I was on needles watching this drama that played out in front of me. We got a good lead with 11-6 and something exiting was to come. 14-6 and now the team chokes up, freezes and cant end the match. Mousesports gets the overtime with 15-15 and my heart just dropped. I know how hard the boys have worked for this, and to loose a match like this, was not good for future morale. The overtime starts with both teams taking rounds and we win at 19-17. Great work by the team and not many saw them go through the BYOC before the event.
We end up in group C which has to start in 7 hours. Its almost 03:00 due to delays in the matches, as usual at events. We have to face the teams n!faculty, VeryGames and compLexity. I'ts gonna be hard to win any of these matches and the team don't get much sleep.
In the first match we meet the possible best team in the world, VeryGames. We play well, but they win the crucial rounds, and we looses 16-8. In my eyes a good results, but its all about winning here. Next match is in lower bracket, where we meet danish n!faculty, which we just don't have the stamina to play well against. We looses 16-5 and it all fells sad, because we will never know, how well we would have done it with enough sleep, to play at our maximum. But its how events are played and we DID do very well. I cant wait for the next event!!!!
